Book an AppointmentDr. Sumanta Dutta completed his MBBS from Burdwan Medical College, West Bengal. He then went to United Kingdom for further education and training. He completed his basic surgical training and MRCS from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd). He did research in the field of surgical oncology from University of Glasgow and obtained his research degree (MD). He continued higher surgical training through National Training Number (UK) and completed Intercollegiate FRCS from RCSEd. He obtained Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in surgery. Following this, he completed one-year post-CCT Fellowship (as a part of the Royal College of Surgeons of England Senior Clinical Fellowship Programme) in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery at St Richard's Hospital, England. He has been extensively involved in presentations in various national and international conferences, publications, peer review of articles in scientific journals and supervising research projects for medical students and doctors.
He moved back to Kolkata as a Consultant Gastro-Intestinal Surgeon (open and laparoscopic) at Tata Medical Centre, Kolkata.
His clinical interest is in open and laparoscopic GI surgery that includes benign and malignant disease. His sub-specialty interest is in obesity surgery (laparoscopic).
